The registrations for the first Elden Ring Nightreign network test are set to open tomorrow, January 10. However, there's a caveat: the test will only be available on less than half of Elden Ring Nightreign's intended platforms.
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco unveiled Elden Ring Nightreign at The Game Awards 2024 in December. This upcoming title promises a co-op Soulsborne adventure in The Lands Between, optimized for three-player parties. The game is slated for a 2025 release.
As is typical with multiplayer titles, Elden Ring Nightreign will undergo at least one network test before its launch. The signups for this limited-time beta open on Friday, January 10. Starting then, interested fans can register via the official website. While these betas usually have a limited number of slots, neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco have revealed how many participants they will accept. It's possible this detail may not be disclosed at all.
Participants lucky enough to be selected can expect their confirmation email by February 2025, the month the test is planned. Specific dates for the beta should be announced in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the test is restricted to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Given that the game is also set to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, this means the test covers less than half of its target platforms. FromSoftware has already stated that Elden Ring Nightreign will not feature cross-platform multiplayer, so the network test will be limited to players within the same console ecosystem.
While not officially confirmed, it's unlikely that progress from the network test will carry over to the full game. FromSoftware has yet to announce whether additional betas are planned, though it remains a possibility.
In addition to the absence of cross-platform multiplayer, another network limitation involves party sizes. Elden Ring Nightreign will only support solo play or parties of three, as FromSoftware has chosen not to balance the game for two-player teams. It's currently unknown whether the upcoming network test will introduce any further gameplay restrictions.
