An Elden Ring player is turning heads with an extraordinary challenge as they eagerly await the release of the series' spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign. This dedicated fan has decided to battle the formidable boss, Messmer the Impaler, every day until Nightreign hits the shelves. Dive into the details of this incredible endeavor!
Elden Ring Player Takes on Messmer Daily
Rather than simply waiting for the launch of Elden Ring: Nightreign, one passionate player has transformed their anticipation into a daily gaming challenge. This fan, known as chickensandwich420 on YouTube, has committed to defeating the notoriously tough boss, Messmer, each day using a different weapon and without taking a single hit, all while playing on NG+7.
Since December 16, 2024, chickensandwich420 has documented this challenge on his channel. Initially, he considered tackling various bosses from FromSoftware's games, but his role as a senior at university limited his time. He stated, "I don’t want to spend time grinding bosses instead of doing work."
Messmer the Impaler, the second antagonist and boss in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is renowned for his challenging nature. Players have reported needing anywhere from 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even at the highest levels and with the best gear. Thus, chickensandwich420's daily challenge is truly a monumental undertaking.
There is, however, a twist to this challenge. chickensandwich420 has set a deadline for himself and FromSoftware: if Nightreign doesn't release by June, he will shift his focus to other games. This deadline would mean facing Messmer for over 160 days. As of now, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign is an upcoming title set in the same universe as Elden Ring, designed as a standalone adventure for three-player co-op. Announced at The Game Awards 2024, it's slated for a 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's history of extended development times, it remains to be seen whether Nightreign will meet this timeline, or if a delay will bring chickensandwich420's Messmer challenge to an end.
