The creators of the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the popular Dark and Darker, have announced that they will cease support for the game and shut down its servers. The project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain its player base due to low engagement and a lack of significant updates.
While Dungeonborne's Steam page remains accessible, it can no longer be discovered through the platform's search function and is only reachable via a direct link. Although the official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, it is evident that the game's extremely low player count was a critical factor in the decision. Since late 2024, Dungeonborne has seen no more than 200 concurrent players, with recent activity plummeting to just 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to be permanently closed on May 28, marking the end of the project's journey. Consequently, this game, which initially captured the interest of genre enthusiasts, will now recede into history without fulfilling its potential.
