Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, revealing a significant exploit that allows players to stun their opponents indefinitely in PvP combat. Dive into the details of this game-breaking issue and learn about Funcom's plans to address it before the game's official launch.
During the open beta weekend, participants experienced the first 20-25 hours of Dune: Awakening along with various other features. On May 10, during the Global LAN Party livestream, players stumbled upon an exploit that enabled them to stun opponents indefinitely in PvP scenarios.
The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player relentlessly uses quick knife attacks on an opponent who has depleted their stamina. This leaves the target unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively keeping them in a continuous state of stagger.
This issue gained widespread attention, particularly after being showcased during the livestreams of popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud.
During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers directly observed the stunlock exploit and promptly acknowledged the problem. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured fans that this exploit would be resolved before the game's official launch.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta weekend now concluded, the developers have gathered invaluable feedback and praise, which will be crucial in refining the game ahead of its release.
Dune: Awakening is scheduled for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with subsequent releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our dedicated article below!
