"Dragon Quest 12 Details to Be Unveiled Gradually, Says Creator Yuji Horii"

Dragon Quest 12 remains in development, with series creator Yuji Horii reassuring fans that information will be shared gradually. Speaking on a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, as reported by Automaton, Horii emphasized that the team at Square Enix is diligently working on the game. This marks the first update since May 2024, when Horii had previously addressed the passing of Dragon Quest's iconic character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. Additionally, the series' lead producer Yu Miyake had transitioned to lead Square Enix's mobile game division.

Amidst concerns from fans about the game's status due to restructuring at Square Enix and a scarcity of updates, Horii's recent remarks confirm that Dragon Quest 12 is indeed still in progress.

Dragon Quest 12 was announced during the series' 35th anniversary celebration and will be the first mainline entry since 2017's Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age. In the meantime, Square Enix reported that Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has exceeded sales expectations, selling 2 million copies.
