Embark on the "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl offers players numerous encounters with NPCs in The Zone, often leading to engaging side quests. One such quest, "For Science!", unfolds after meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who tasks the player with activating a second measuring device atop a silo. This relatively brief quest rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area within the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will contact Skif (the player character) via radio, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, proceed left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the quest upon acceptance.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Access a room with broken windows, climb out, and descend the external ladder to the silo walkways. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device.

Dealing with the Aftermath

Activating the device attracts a pack of Bloodsuckers. Players can choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose. Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept his reward. Either choice has no significant impact on the game's progression. Choosing the non-hostile option yields the Malachite Pass and some additional rewards. This pass provides access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through the main storyline.
