From a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds to fresh information on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster, and the release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, there's a lot for fans to look forward to.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Bunch of New Details

PlayOnimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for a 2026 release, and Capcom has shared more thrilling details about what to expect from this new installment in the franchise. The development team is focusing on three core aspects: crafting compelling characters, introducing a new protagonist, and creating engaging enemies. They are committed to recreating the setting of Kyoto, which is filled with historical and real-life locations. Their goal is to deliver the "ultimate sword fighting action" game, complete with the visceral satisfaction of slicing through enemies.

Although specifics about the new protagonist remain sparse, we know that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set in the Edo Period and will involve battling evil creatures called Genma. Due to a "twist of fate," the protagonist will wield an Oni Gauntlet, using it to dispatch foes and feed it souls. The game aims to be challenging yet enjoyable for action fans of all skill levels, without being "impossibly difficult."

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Is Getting a Remastered Version in 2025

PlayThe 2002 classic, Onimusha: Samurai's Destiny, is set for a remastered release in 2025. Capcom hopes this remaster will tide fans over until the launch of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 to Feature Flagship Monster Arkveld

PlayThe second Open Beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds is approaching, and Capcom has unveiled what players can expect. The highlight is the introduction of the new flagship monster, Arkveld, which players can challenge in an advanced quest designed to test their skills.

Additionally, the Open Beta 2 will include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features such as Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies are ideal for playing with friends without appearing in public searches, while Online Single Player allows solo players to use an S.O.S. Flare to switch to multiplayer when needed.

Players can transfer their data from the first Open Beta to the second, and returning features include Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, and the second Open Beta, featuring Cross-Play, will be available during the following times:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT
PlayParticipants in the Open Beta will be able to transfer their character data to the full game, but game progression won't carry over. Those who participate will receive a special Pendant as a reward.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies Just Waiting to Be Fought

The Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase provided a new story trailer set in the frozen Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new enemies such as the quirky Wudwud known as Rove, the Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and the formidable Gore Magala. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches on May 16

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to launch on May 16, 2025, featuring a collection of classic fighting games including Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 Adds Fatal Fury's Mai on February 5

PlayStreet Fighter 6 will welcome Fatal Fury's Mai to its roster on February 5. She will be the second-last character added in Year 2, following M. Bison and Terry. The final character to be added will be Elena, with more details on her to be announced in the future.
