Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared an emotional message as he recovers from a harrowing ordeal. Last week, Johnson was found "barely alive" in his hotel room, leading to a critical health scare that saw him placed in a coma.

A video message from Johnson was uploaded to a GoFundMe page, which has raised over $174,653 to help cover his medical expenses and bills. In the video, Johnson expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you."

Johnson was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer's Foundation. After checking into his hotel, he failed to appear at the event, prompting his wife, Kim Johnson, to call the hotel. Hotel security and emergency medical technicians eventually found him, struggling to detect a pulse.

Reflecting on the close call, Johnson stated, "Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here." He credited his survival to the quick actions of his wife and son, who called hotel security, leading to his timely hospitalization and subsequent coma, which lasted five days.

Johnson expressed deep appreciation for the support he received, mentioning the GoFundMe campaign organized by his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, as well as his wife, Kim. He also thanked the National Alzheimer's Association for flying his family to Atlanta and providing them with accommodations, and Ted Leonsis, chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company, for a generous $25,000 donation.

Bethesda, where Johnson has lent his voice to numerous beloved characters, also showed their support on social media. In response, Johnson said, "You say that I'm your friend. I am. Always will be. Love you guys." He extended his thanks to fans, both those who donated and those who offered their support in other ways, affirming, "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere."

Despite the long road to recovery ahead, Johnson remains optimistic, stating, "It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."

Beyond his video game work, Johnson has also contributed to various film and television roles. His most recent video game role was as Ron Hope in Starfield. His extensive voice work with Bethesda includes characters such as Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, three Daedric Princes in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among others.
