Ubisoft has unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising an array of exciting additions to keep the game fresh and engaging. The detailed plans were shared in a four-and-a-half-minute video update, offering a clear schedule for May and June, as the developers aim to keep players engaged with regular free updates throughout 2025.

The first wave of content, titled "The Works of Luis Frois," is set to launch in early May. This initial free story add-on will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life enhancements. Players can also look forward to significant parkour additions and an updated photo mode arriving next month. These updates reflect Ubisoft's commitment to incorporating player feedback into the ongoing development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. "Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, fans can expect the next free story drop, along with new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to choose whether to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. These features are highly anticipated by the community, and Ubisoft plans to introduce even more before the year ends, including new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations.
The most significant addition to the roadmap is the "Claws of Awaji" DLC expansion, set to release later in the year. This expansion promises a 10-hour journey featuring new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking Ubisoft’s ambitious foray into Feudal Japan. The game has already secured a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and has emerged as the best-selling game of last month.
