In the thrilling world of *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power is key, and anointing is a powerful method to do just that. Anointing can be a bit complex, but once you grasp it, you'll be able to significantly boost your gameplay. Here's a detailed guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

Anointing your amulets and Waystones becomes available later in the game, requiring Distilled Emotions, which you can obtain from Delirium Maps. If you're familiar with the original game, you'll recognize Distilled Emotions as similar to Blight Oils. There are ten types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.

The primary method to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random assortment of these emotions. Alternatively, you can obtain them through currency exchange or the trade market.

To upgrade Distilled Emotions, utilize the Reforging Bench. It requires three of the same type to produce an upgraded version, giving you control over which emotions you enhance.

For a more challenging approach, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though this method is less efficient than Delirium Maps and demands a robust build due to its higher difficulty.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2

Anointing can be applied to both Waystones and amulets, with potential for more options in future updates as the game is currently in Early Access. To anoint an amulet, choose a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. The specific emotion chosen doesn't matter at this stage. Place the amulet in the central box and a Distilled Emotion in each of the three bottom boxes. The required emotions for the desired anointing ability are displayed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on a keyboard or R3 on a controller to see the requirements.

The skills you choose to anoint will vary based on your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can alter the anointed passive on an amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt to your current build as needed.

The same anointing process applies to Waystones, making them more challenging but also potentially rewarding with better loot. Note that neither amulets nor Waystones can be anointed if they're corrupted.

With these steps, you're equipped to enhance your amulets through anointing, boosting your current build or challenging yourself by anointing a Waystone in *Path of Exile 2*.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
