Critical Role's Robbie Daymond will officially join the Assassin's Creed Shadows roster next week as a brand-new recruitable ally for protagonists Yasuke and Naoe.
Daymond will portray Rufino, a character he originally created for an Assassin's Creed Shadows promotional one-shot. Early previews show Rufino dressed in Portuguese-style attire complete with an elaborate moustache.
This new ally will become available in Shadows' June 25 update, marking the latest free story addition since launch. The update follows last month's Dead by Daylight crossover mission.
Previous story expansions have been relatively brief (around 20 minutes of gameplay), but as one of only six recruitable allies in the game, Rufino could play a more substantial role than previous additions.
The extent of Rufino's involvement remains unclear: Will players be able to summon him in combat like other allies? Will romantic interactions be possible? Or will he simply become another NPC at the hideout? These questions will be answered next week.
Okay so imagine: feudal Japan, hidden blades... and Critical Role? Robbie's in. Luc's in. You should probably be in too.#ACShadows #CriticalRole #ACxCR

Future plans include New Game Plus functionality, more story content with additional crossovers, and the game's first major expansion - Claws of Awaji - scheduled for later in 2025. This DLC will expand the game's map with a new Japanese region while continuing Shadows' main narrative.
