It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has leaked. While Sony has yet to confirm anything, rumors are swirling that the teen slasher horror game Until Dawn will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. Although the leaked key art hints at the Until Dawn Remastered edition rather than the original 2014 release, we won't know for sure until Sony makes an official announcement.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members enjoy access to a vast catalog of current and classic games, while the monthly free games are open to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.

Some members of the PlayStation subreddit (shoutout to PushSquare) speculate that this could be a promotional move tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet expectations, earning a 5/10 from us at IGN. In our review, we noted, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

The 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received a similar score of 5/10, with our review stating, "an overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 release from Supermassive Games was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.

In other news, 22 games are slated to be removed from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This removal means that Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be accessible on modern consoles.
