2025 Alienware Aurora 16, 16X Gaming Laptops Now Available

Earlier this month, Alienware unveiled its exciting new lineup of 2025 gaming laptops, known as the "Alienware Aurora". The initial 16" models are now ready for purchase at Dell. The Alienware Aurora 16, not to be mistaken with its desktop counterpart, is the more budget-friendly option. It boasts an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU and a GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with an 85W TGP, priced at $1,949.99. On the other hand, the Alienware Aurora 16X is the premium model, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with a 115W TGP, available for $2,299.99. These models are slated to begin shipping in mid-June. Both laptops offer the option to upgrade to RTX 5060 graphics, though these are currently on preorder with no set shipping date as the RTX 5060 has yet to be released.

However, beneath their unassuming exteriors, both the Aurora 16 and 16X are powered by robust gaming components and a sophisticated Cryo Chamber dual fan and copper heatpipe cooling system. The Aurora 16 is lighter and thinner, thanks to its efficient components like the low-voltage Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and the RTX 5070 GPU with an 85W TGP. The Aurora 16X, being slightly thicker and heavier, accommodates more powerful cooling to support its high-performance Intel Core Ultra 9 HX series processor and RTX 5070 GPU with a maximum 115W TGP rating.

Compared to the new Alienware Area-51, which starts at over $3,000, these laptops are much more affordable. They are also more travel-friendly, weighing up to 1.6 pounds less and being up to 30% thinner than a comparable Area-51 16" laptop. Prices are unlikely to decrease significantly in the near future, especially considering Nvidia GPU prices may rise, according to Tom's Hardware.
